As the heading suggests, this article will explain why Sade Sati is not always harmful and the conditions in which it gives good results.
There are countless examples where Sade Sati has given good results, bringing success and wealth to individuals.
If you are currently in Sade Sati, i.e., Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces Moon signs, then this article may help ease your nerves.
The Internet is filled with articles that create fear in our minds.
I am not saying that Sade Sati should not be feared, but at the same time, the actual truth should be known, and people should understand that the purpose of Sade Sati is to release our fears.
What Is Sade Sati
Saturn's transit gives us Sade Sati, it is a period of 7.5 years which starts when Saturn enters the 12th house from your natal Moon and ends when Saturn enters the 3rd house from your natal Moon.
For example, if your Moon is in Aries, your Sade Sati will start when Saturn enters Pisces and will end when Saturn enters Gemini, the 3rd sign from Aries.
Sade Sati means 7.5 years and is the sum of 2.5+2.5+2.5 years of Saturn's transit through the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from the natal Moon position.
Each period of 2.5 years is known as the rising phase, peak phase, and setting phase.
In the near future, i.e., in April 2025, Saturn is going to enter the sign of Pisces, which will start the Sade Sati period for the Aries Moon sign.
Saturn, the karaka of karma and also the judge of our action, goes into action mode during Sade Sati and tends to judge our actions more aggressively.
The Sade Sati period is known to give negative results and often leads to the following:
- Useless wanderings
- Career issues
- Financial troubles
- Downfall in life
- Bad marriage
- Late marriage
- Delays in childbirth
- Loss of property
- Thefts
- Injury
- Humiliation
I have been through my own Sade Sati, and some parts of it were not easy for me.
However, I did get good results in the later part, and my experiences gave me the idea to write about this topic.
How Sade Sati Promotes Growth & Success
Vedic astrology is one of the Vedanga, and its purpose is to understand our life patterns. Most importantly, it teaches us that karma is supreme and no one is beyond it.
Even Lord Rama had to suffer during his Sade Sati, and we all know how it ended up.
As always, the divine plan was executed perfectly.
Our past life karmas have a huge impact on who we are now and how our life patterns unfold.
In Vedic astrology, Saturn is given the role of judge who rewards and punishes us for our deeds.
During Sade Sati, this function of Saturn becomes very prominent, and the results of mostly negative karmas take the driving seat.
Even the most noble souls who have done good deeds tend to suffer during this period.
However, if you have ever experienced Sade Sati, you must have sensed that its effects were a bit different and had a purpose.
When you are under a negative Dasha like Rahu-Mars, Saturn-Venus, or Ketu-Mercury, you tend to go through hardships and suffering.
But you cannot immediately make sense of these problems, the cause, and the purpose behind them.
The "brahma jigyasa" remains absent.
However, during Sade Sati, you tend to become submissive and God-fearing. You become spiritual, and for many, it is during Sade Sati that they find the purpose of their life.
I have seen many people discovering their true life purpose during Sade Sati. These individuals are naturally gifted, and it is Sade Sati that forces them to change their routine, interests, and life path for the greater good.
It is a period required to harness the best from your Rajyoga and Dhanyoga.
No Rajyoga becomes fully activated until you go through your Sade Sati.
The churning that occurs during Sade Sati is necessary to achieve growth in life.
A very good example of this phenomenon is cricketer Virat Kohli whose horoscope is given below:
His Moon sign is which is placed with Ketu in the 12th house.
His second phase of Sade Sati started on November 1, 2006, when Saturn entered the sign of Leo.
His Father died in the second phase of Sade Sati on December 18, 2006 and he became serious about his craft and passionate, and became an unstoppable force in the world of cricket.
Without the necessary impact of Sade Sati he would have not succeeded.
Let's see one more example where the native's Sade Sati proved instrumental in the realization of the talents he possessed.
Native was working in an MNC but always wanted to do a business and in the first phase of Sade Sati he lost his job and started a business of his own which gave him instant success.
It is not necessary that you will achieve world wide fame after Sade Sati, you will get what is promised in the Horoscope and surely you will be more happy after it.
The above explanation along with the examples Horoscope is self-explanatory as to why you should not consider Sade Sati as negative, even when you face hardship in it.
Reasons & Examples Of Effortless Success During Sade Sati
In this section, I will discuss three examples of which will assure you that Sade Sati can prove extremely beneficial and can give the best time of your life that too without a tradegy.
Why such thing happens to certain individual can be understood in following manner.
Vedic astrology is deeply rooted in the karma theory, it is essential that we look into the three of the most valuable houses associated with past life punya (merit) and dharma (duty): 1st, 5th and 9th houses.
1st house which is also known as ascendant is who we are and a strong and well connected 1st house is sign of a good and strong horoscope.
The 5th house is 9th from the 9th house and carries the blessings and rewards of good karma done in past lives.
An extremely auspicious 5th and the 9th house and denotes that you must have done beautiful karmas in your past life and carried wisdom, innocence, and kindness into this current life as well.
When both of them are well placed, it indicates a good karmic pattern of the native and loves to bless and reward them.
The first example where the native gained massive success during Sade Sati is of M.S Dhoni.
The famous cricketer M.S. Dhoni has Virgo as his Moon sign and started his Sade Sati when Saturn entered the sign of Leo on July 16, 2007.
Within a few months, on September 24, 2007, he achieved his first milestone when India won the inaugural T-20 World Cup trophy under his able leadership.
Again, during his peak phase of Sade Sati, India won the 50-over World Cup, where in the finals on April 2, 2011, he played a solid knock.
In fact, his whole Sade Sati cemented his name among the greats of the cricketing world. In fact his performance went down when his Sade Sati was over in 2014.
His horoscope analysis shows his Moon in the sign of Virgo with Saturn and Jupiter. This union of Saturn, Jupiter, and Moon is happening in the 1st house itself and creates a great Rajyoga. His 5th house lord Venus is placed in the 11th house of gains and is with Rahu which amplifies the results of Venus.
The second example is of India's first prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru who became the Prime Minister in 1947.
In his Horoscope which is given below, Moon is in the sign of Cancer and in his peak phase of Sade Sati he got the chance to lead independent India.
In his Horoscope, the 5th house lord is Mars and 9th house lord is Jupiter. Mars is placed in the 3rd house and aspecting the 9th lord Jupiter which is placed in own sign of Sagittarius.
The third example is of Jeff Bezos, who started his Sade Sati on September 17, 1985, and it ended on March 5, 1993.
Given below is his horoscope, which indicates his 1st house lord Jupiter in own sign creating Hamsa yoga.
The Moon is in sign of Sagittarius and is making an auspicious Rajyoga with Mercury. 5th house lord Mars is exalted in the 11th house and is with Saturn.
Nothing bad happened during his Sade Sati, which is clearly visible from his biography.
Rather he was busy brainstorming his business ideas, and in the last phase of Sade Sati, he did active work and laid the foundation for his company Amazon.
The above examples clearly show individuals who achieved worldwide success due to Sade Sati.
Their horoscopes are filled with numerous Rajyogas and have auspicious placements of the 1st, the 5th and 9th house lords.
Conditions In Which Sade Sati Does Not Cause Harm
The conditions under which Sade Sati doesn't cause great harm are very specific
1. Age of the Native: It is observed that Sade Sati creates hardship for those in the age group of 30 to 60 years. Young children usually don't feel the severe impact of Sade Sati as much. This could be because Saturn is the karaka of karma, and before reaching the age of 30, most people don't really have solid plans. They have fewer responsibilities, and there is less scope for judgment of their karma. The famous saying "as you sow, so shall you reap" fully applies here. When your horizon is limited and you have fewer karmas to pay off in this life, Sade Sati cannot act on you fully. It usually impacts people around you, like your parents, and you might have noticed that when you were young, the breadwinner in the family was affected. This may have created a tense environment and potentially affected your own potential due to a lack of funds for education.
Let's see an example of a boy who is currently 25 years old and is under Sade Sati, which started in January 2020. Since the beginning of his Sade Sati, he has become more responsible towards his education and responsibilities. His father's business suffered due to COVID, and the family has developed some debts. This chaos made him realize that, as the only son in the family, he has to step up and help them as much as possible. He was a completely different person before this event. He dropped his plan to pursue his master's in the USA even though a bank loan was available for it.
Now, the question arises: did this event of Sade Sati rob him of opportunities abroad, or did it make him sincere and shape his personality to be fearless and hardworking?
Many may think that Sade Sati made his family finances worse and that he has nowhere to go now.
But understand that the qualities he has developed now will stay with him forever, and he will be more successful in the future due to the events that happened during his Sade Sati.
2. When Your Moon Is in Auspicious State: The term "auspicious" here means your Moon should be strong and unafflicted in the natal horoscope. Sade Sati revolves around the Moon, which is the karaka of emotions and the mind. The mind is the most powerful tool we have, which can make or break our life. When the Moon is well-placed and unafflicted, the native's thinking remains sorted, and decision-making doesn't get badly affected. Also, the Moon has an important role in our health and physical safety, and such a Moon keeps us sane and healthy during the tough period of Sade Sati.
For the Moon to be considered strong, it can be in any zodiac sign in the natal horoscope but should not be placed in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. At the same time, the Moon should not be placed in the sign of Scorpio in Navamsha and should not be in malefic houses. For the Moon to be free from affliction, there should not be any union, aspect, or exchange with Saturn, Mars, Rahu, or Ketu. Ideally, only benefics should associate with the Moon, and the best of them is Jupiter, who can literally save us from any kind of hardship.
When natives with an auspicious Moon experience their Sade Sati, they don't lose their cool, and their optimism and faith in divine plans allow them to come out as winners. Even though they may lose valuable things during Sade Sati, that doesn't deter them from the right path, and issues like addiction, depression, and anxiety don't bother them.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Jawaharl Lal Nehru horoscopes have Moon is strong and benefic placement and for them Sade Sati proved beneficial which I have explained earlier.
3. When Saturn Is Auspicious in the Horoscope: Saturn is the natural karaka of karma and gains from it. Saturn is considered strong when it is placed in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra (exalted), Sagittarius, Capricorn (own sign), and Aquarius (own sign). At the same time, in Navamsha, Saturn should be in any of these signs mentioned before. If Saturn is in the same sign in both the natal and Navamsha charts, then it is considered Vargottama. Saturn gains directional strength in the 7th house, which is not that relevant here. Rather, it is important that Saturn shouldn't be in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. In these houses, the role of Saturn becomes complex and cannot help you during the Sade Sati period.
All planets have rulership over certain houses, and Saturn is the only planet that rules two consecutive signs: Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn is considered benefic for Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn, and Aquarius ascendants. For Taurus and Libra ascendants, it is a Yogakaraka planet. When Saturn is benefic or Yogakaraka, it creates protection for the native, and the severe impact of Sade Sati is not felt.
For example, in a Libra ascendant where Saturn is a Yogakaraka planet, its placement in the horoscope makes the whole chart strong for the native. Then Sade Sati may not affect the native severely and can create new opportunities.
Note: Don't assume on your own that because your Saturn is benefic and well-placed, you are now immune. The significance and application of Sade Sati go beyond lordship and placement.
Even when Saturn is well-placed or Yogakaraka in your horoscope, you will still feel the heat in at least one phase.
4.Dasha of an Auspicious Planet: In every case where Sade Sati caused major damage, you will notice that the native was in the planetary dasha of a weak, malefic, or afflicted planet. Dasha is supreme when it comes to controlling the events of our life. If you are running the dasha of a planet that is strong and benefic, then Sade Sati does not affect the native badly.
5.When Saturn and Moon Are Placed Favorably from Each Other: It makes perfect sense that Saturn and the Moon should be placed favorably from each other. This not only reduces the bad effects of Sade Sati but also keeps the mind stable and motivated. Saturn is the karaka of karma, hard work, and discipline, and when placed in the 5th, 9th, 10th, or 11th house away from the natal Moon, it encourages the native to be action-oriented and prevents them from wasting time on contemplation and procrastination. Since Sade Sati involves these two planets, it is essential that they support each other in the horoscope. When Saturn and Moon are placed in the 6th, 4th, 8th, or 12th house from each other, the impact of Sade Sati tends to become very severe.
Conclusions
Sade Sati is an event which is karmic in nature and our snachit karma comes on forefront in this period. As evident from the examples, the benefic placement of the ascendant, 5th and 9th house leads to good results in Sade Sati. In fact Sade Sati is a rewarding period for them. Even the absence of such placement should not mean that Sade Sati will bring only harm. Benefic placement of Moon, Saturn, operation of benefic Dasha and even the age of native have a final say in the impact of Sade Sati.
