Neecha Bhanga Rajyoga: In Depth Review

In astrology, there are signs where planets get debilitated which in Hindi means “neecha” and is termed as powerless and when such debility gets annulled by some special planetary alignments then it’s called Neecha bhanga.

When such “neecha bhang condition” converts into raja yoga then it is called “neecha bhang rajyoga”.

Clearly, there is a difference between neecha bhang and neccha bhang raj yoga.

Rules Which Converts Neech Bhang Into Neech Bhang Rajyoga

As per Phaladeepika, the following parameters should be checked to find if a debilitated planet is getting Neechabhang or not.

1. The ruler of the sign occupied by the debilitated planet is in a Kendra position from the Moon or the Lagna.

For example, suppose your Venus is debilitated which means it is in Virgo.

Then the lord of Virgo which is Mercury should be in Kendra i.e. houses 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or Moon.

2. The ruler of the sign where the debilitated planet achieves exaltation is in a Kendra position from the Moon or Lagna.

For example, Mars is debilitated which means Mars is in the Cancer sign. Now Mars gets exalted in the sign of Capricorn whose lord is Saturn. Therefore to have cancellation of debilitation Saturn should be Kendra house i.e 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or from Moon.

3. If the ruler of the sign is occupied by the debilitated planet aspects of the planet.

For example, If Saturn is debilitated which means it is in Aries then to achieve cancel of debilitation Mars needs to aspect Saturn.

4. The planet that will be exalted in the sign where a planet is getting debilitated is present in a Kendra from the Moon or the Lagna.

Example If Jupiter is debilitated which means it is a sign of Capricorn. Now Mars achieves exaltation in a sign of Capricorn and therefore Mars should be present in Kendra houses 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or from Moon to give cancel of debilitation to Jupiter.

5. If the debilitated planet is exalted in the Navamsha.

This is a common but major rule since navamsa is a micro chart and holds the essence of D-1, therefore, planet placement needs to be checked here properly.

6. When debilitated and exalted planets are in the same sign.

For example, Venus is in Virgo with Mercury. Here Venus is debilitated whereas Mercury is exalted giving Neechabhanga to Venus.

•There are many renowned personalities who have debilitated planets but still, they achieved a lot in their life.

•As per traditional texts, 2 or more planets in the sign of their debilitation make one sick, poor, and immoral.

But if you see the horoscope likes of the famous painter Pablo Picasso.

You will find 6 planets in debilitation this makes us wonder what is happening here.

This needs more introspection and not to forget there are other factors also which work simultaneously apart from debilitation and exaltation of planets.

Usually out of 100 Neecha bhang only 2 or 3 converted to Neecha bhang raj yoga.

As per ashtakvarga, if a planet even if debilitated has more than 4 benefic bindus in its own ashtakvarga then it tends to give good results.

In fact, ashtakvarga score of all planets should be checked before giving results on planets.

Ashtakvarga bindus is a measurement of benefic results of planets and the strength of planets can also be judged from it.

Neechabhanga Rajyoga is clearly seen in the horoscope of Pablo Picasso.

2. In its own ashtakvarga, Venus hhas6 out of 8 benefic bindus, such Venus is highly praised in traditional texts.

3. Venus is aspected by Jupiter.

All these three points are making Venus bless him with good results.

Here though Venus is debilitated but Jupiter is giving neechabhanga and being in the house of hands, paintings that are strong in ashtakvarga is pushing Venus to bless him with a great sense of arts.

His artistic talent is also evident from the placement of the 3rd house lord in the 5th house which is a house of imagination.

Imagine a horoscope here with the same debilitated Venus in 3rd but a weak third house & a weak Venus as per ashtakvarga.

Such Venus will not be able to bless the native with art skills at least not at a great level.

Saturn is debilitated in the 10th house and Sun is in the 4th house giving it Neechabhanga.
