It also dispels the myth that Saturn Mahadasha is always negative.
Yes, it can cause issues in life and bring about delays, illness, losses, broken marriages, displacement from the birthplace, and more.
However, when Saturn is favorable in the natal horoscope, its Mahadasha can prove beneficial in all aspects of life.
In fact, whenever it proves auspicious, it elevates the native very high in life, and no other planetary Mahadasha can match the extent of Saturn Mahadasha’s auspicious results.

1.When Saturn is Benefic: Saturn becomes benefic when it rules over the trine house, which means ownership of Saturn over the 1st, 5th, and the 9th house. In such a scenario, Saturn becomes benefic for the native.
By these rules, Saturn is beneficial for the following ascendants:
- Taurus Ascendant: Here, Saturn is the lord of the 9th and the 10th house. Saturn also becomes a Yogakaraka because of its ownership over the Trine and the Kendra house.
- Gemini Ascendant: Saturn is the lord of the 8th and the 9th house, and due to its Mooltrikone sign Aquarius placement in the 9th house, it acts as a benefic planet.
- Virgo Ascendant: Saturn is the lord of the 5th and the 6th house and is deemed as a beneficial planet. Though here, affliction of Mars, Ketu, or Rahu over Saturn can alter the nature of Saturn to some extent.
- Libra Ascendant: Saturn is the lord of the 4th and the 5th house and is a beneficial and Yogyakaraka planet.
- Capricorn Ascendant: Saturn is the lord of the ascendant and the 12th house. Due to its ownership over the 1st house, it becomes the most important planet.
- Aquarius Ascendant: Saturn is the lord of the 1st and the 12th house, and Saturn becomes a super benefic planet. The whole horoscope revolves around Saturn and its placement only.

2. Unafflicted State Of Saturn: A planet in affliction doesn’t give good results and during its Mahadasha gives obstacles in life.
Even if Saturn is benefic for you, but if Saturn is afflicted then it won't be able to give you good results of its significations.
In and it should not be under affliction by natural malefics which are Mars, Ketu, and Rahu.
Similarly, Saturn should not be placed in the 6th, 8th, or the 12th house unless it is in its own sign.
3. Strong Placement In Navamsha: This is a must for Saturn Mahadasha to give good results. When a planet becomes strong in Navamsha i.e., in its own sign, exaltation, or in a friendly sign, then that planet is said to become auspicious and capable of protecting its significations.
Also Saturn in Pushkar navamsha or Vargottama status also leads to good results in its Mahadasha.
Due to Saturn’s importance in astrology, it is a must that Saturn should be strong and unafflicted in Navamsha for good results in its Mahadasha. Saturn can be weak or afflicted in the natal horoscope provided its position in Navamsha is strong.
But the opposite should not happen, or the Dasha of Saturn won’t give benefits.
4. Involved In Rajyoga: In order to reap benefits of Saturn Mahadasha in an auspicious and unafflicted state, you need to have Rajyoga formed by Saturn or Rajyoga where Saturn is involved.
Some popular Rajyogas by Saturn are as follows:
- Sasa Yoga: It is formed when Saturn is placed in any of the Kendra houses i.e., 1st, 4th, 7th, and the 10th house. This is a Panchmahapurush yoga which blesses the native with the best quality of Saturn. - Dhanyoga: When Saturn, as the lord of the 2nd, is placed in the 11th house. Or as the 11th house lord placed in the 1st house. This makes the native successful in business.
