Sade Sati is the 7.5-year period during which Saturn transits the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from the natal Moon.

This phase is known for bringing significant life changes, challenges, and personal growth, as Saturn tests patience, resilience, and maturity.

The three phases of Sade Sati are:

1. First Phase (Saturn in the 12th house from Moon): This can bring expenses, isolation, relocation, or emotional burdens. Saturn starts the cycle of detachment and restructuring.
2. Second Phase (Saturn in the 1st house from Moon): This is the peak phase, bringing major life transformations, responsibilities, and pressures. Despite being restrictive in nature this period helps in developing endurance.
3. Third Phase (Saturn in the 2nd house from Moon): This phase impacts finances, family matters, and self-worth. It gradually eases the hardships as lessons are learned.

Marriage is a karmic event and Sade Sati is a particular period where all of our karmic patterns becomes activated.

In this article, I am mentioning the impact of Sade Sati on marriage.

During Sade Sati, the weakness of the 7th house can become activated and various issues in your marriage can arise.

In my practice I have seen that Sade Sati's influence on marriage can be very major. This is the period where most separation, divorce or even death of spouse happens.

Before we go ahead and discuss the types of marital issues one usually faces in the Sade Sati period. It is important to answer a important question which is:

Should You Marry In Sade Sati?

The answer to this question is: Yes! You can marry during Sade Sati, and you can even have kids."

Sade Sati is a very karmic phase and many people do experience auspicious events in Sade Sati. I have written an article where I have discussed how Sade Sati can prove auspicious.

Imagine if Sade Sati doesn't allow people to marry then the creation will collapse. Cases where delays in marriage is happening due to various reasons, in those particular cases Sade Sati can delay the marriage for more time.

Let's see an example where the native is actively looking for the partner but the operation of Sade Sati since 2022 have caused many road blocks.

She is Sagittarius ascendant with Moon in Pisces sign and currently she is 35 years old now the her peak phase will start soon and more it may become hard for her to find a spouse for next two more years because the dasha in her case is not indicating marriage event.

Indifferent Attitude Towards The Spouse In Sade Sati 

Since Moon is karaka of mind and it regulates our emotions and controls our mood. The impact of Sade Sati on it is always direct and significant in nature.

You start to feel irritated on small small things and depending on how your partner temperament is, your irritating behaviour and nature can backfire. 

If the karaka of spouse which is Venus for males and Jupiter for females is under the influence of natural malefics such as Mars, Ketu, Saturn or Rahu, then the spouse can react negatively leading to clashes.

More important here to check is that how your own perception, emotional intelligence and patience is getting tested.

The mental health usually becomes bad in Sade Sati. Native becomes very reactive and become angry on small small issues. 

The decision abilities also become affected and native get stuck in a loop and it become very hard to come out of it.

This is the reason why many natives fall in depression in their Sade Sati which obviously affects the marriage.

Let's see the example for this:

The following horoscope belongs to a native who started to act very badly in his Sade Sati.

He was becoming suspicious towards his wife and was blaming her for things she would never do.

In his horoscope you can see that his Moon is badly afflicted and the transit of Saturn over this Moon made me go crazy and affected his marriage.

Though his spouse was able to endure it and did not reacted in extreme manner. 

It is because he have 7th lord Venus is in exalted state. Otherwise the situation would have become very bad for his marriage.

Divorce In Sade Sati

As per my observation half of the divorces happens in Sade Sati period. Since it is the most karmic period and marriage is also a karmic bond, all the negatives stored start to affect marital life.

One need to have a strong ascendant and Moon to handle the impact of this period. The risk of divorce is particularly high for those who have a 7th house lord placed in the 6th house which is 12th from the 7th house of marriage. 

In all the phases of Sade Sati the risk of divorce remains applicable especially for those who are having this Saturn transit in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from their natal ascendant or from the 7th house lord.

Let's see an example Horoscope which belongs to the native who underwent divorce in the first phase of Sade Sati in year 2013.

His Moon sign is the Sagittarius sign which is placed in the first house. Saturn was in the 12th house from the ascendant where Venus is also placed.

There are many major afflictions in his horoscope and particularly over marriage area. These issues got activated in the Sade Sati.

Spouse Cheating In Sade Sati 

Many times native have no fault of his own, the spouse starts to behave erratic and does things which are prohibited in a marriage. 

See, Sade Sati is a period which gives you pain, your past life karma become more active in this period. 

So if you have afflicted 7th house, like 7th house lord in 6th, 8th or 12th house, or have malefic planets sitting in the 7th, 8th or 12th house or have placements which give a cheating spouse.

Then such issues are likely to happen.

It can happen in any phase of Sade Sati but if Saturn is transiting in 7th, 8th, 12th, 1st or 2nd house from the natal ascendant. 

Or if Saturn is transiting over the 7th house lord of the natal chart. Then this situation can become prominent.

If the karaka of marriage which Jupiter for females and Venus for males is afflicted by Mars or Rahu, or have a connection with the 6th or 8th house then native spouse will have a tendency to cheat.

In such cases, it is seen that the horoscope of the spouse have prominent role of Mars and Venus. 

If they are connected with each other in navamsha then the tendency of spouse cheating can become higher.

Note: There are other criteria for spouse cheating and solely Mars and Venus should not be blamed. Spouse Moon position matters a lot along with other factors.

In the following example Horoscope, the spouse cheated on the native in his second phase of Sade Sati (Sagittarius Moon sign -from 2017 to 2020).

Saturn came into the 5th house from ascendant in October 2017 and started to aspect the 7th house of marriage also. 

In this phase somewhere in the middle of the Sade Sati, the native found spouse cheating on him.

Leaving him devastated and heart-broken.

Bad Health Of Spouse

It is the most frequent occurrence which is seen in Sade Sati, even in some cases, the spouse may die Sade Sati.

If becoming a widow is in your fate then Sade Sati is the period where this is likely to happen.

Not so long ago I did a horoscope where the client shared the information that the spouse was diagnosed with Cancer in the second phase of Sade Sati. 

Usually it is the the second and third phase where such issues are encountered by the native.

In second phase in which Saturn transits over the natal Moon, the direct aspect of Saturn over the 7th house can trigger health issues to the spouse. 

The 2nd house from natal Moon is 8th from the 7th house and Saturn here can give chronic health issues.

Presence of natural malefic planets here can cause surgery and other life threatening health issues to spouse. 

If the natal horoscope of native have 7th lord in 2nd house under the influence of malefic planets, in papakarti yoga or in combust state then health issues to spouse can become very challenging in Sade Sati.

Physical Distance & Lack Of Intimacy 

This is a major and frequent problem which many of native faces in Sade Sati. As soon as this period starts, they can sent to far of place from home and family.

This can be a forced transfer or posting and usually is of hard nature. This leads to lack of time with spouse which reduces the intimacy. 

For seasoned couples this is fine and rather can be a time for testing their bond and understanding.

But for newly married couples this period can be very testing and can lead to many issues such as trust issues, lack of understanding and frustrations due to lack of intimacy. 

The 12th house from Moon also represents the far places, isolation, abroad, bed related pleasures and your mindset towards pleasures.

Presence of Saturn which is a malefic planet of  separative nature can trigger such issues. 

If you have malefic planets in the 12th house from Moon then the first phase of Sade Sati can trigger severe marital issues and your situation can make you feel helpless.

Example Horoscope:

The above horoscope belongs to the native who was sent to a far distance place in his Sade Sati.

He was married 6 months before beginning of his Sade Sati.

His Sade Sati started when Saturn went in Aquarius on January 2022.

In 2 months, he was ordered to take charge of a new office in a different city which was far from his native place.

Due to his family conditions and responsibilities he could not bring his wife with him.

The physical distance in the new marriage affected him and his wife badly. They started to develop fights and issues at one point became very severe.

The lack of understanding was due to the weakness of the 7th house lord which is placed in 5th house in retrograde state and at the same time Jupiter is debilitated in the 7th house. Retrograde Saturn influence over 7th house is well known to cause physical distance in marriage.

Issues With In Laws

This is a common occurrence and many female natives suffers from this problem.

The 8th house from natal and navamsha signifies the in laws and role of the 4th house is also important because it is the house of domestic peace.

Now when in any phase of Sade sati, Saturn enters or influence the 4th house or its lord.

The issues with in laws becomes aggravated. If the native have malefic planets in the 8th house then in Sade Sati relationship with spouse can become very bad.

Due to which issues with spouse also get affected. 

If Saturn is passing from the 8th house of natal chart, then native will have to deal with great cautions.

The following horoscope belongs to a female native who was subjected to mental and physical torture in her Sade Sati:

You can see that she have Mars in the 10th house and her in-laws never treated her well.

In her Sade sati ( Capricorn Moon sign) she faced mental harassment through them.

Her, sister in law which is signified by Mars (younger in sister in law) made her life hell.

Conclusion

Sade Sati is a very sensitive time for marriage and matters related to the 7th house. Divorces, separation and cheating is very common in this phase. Native life becomes very karmic and the affliction of the 7th house becomes more pronounced.

If one is having Saturn transit from the malefic house of natal horoscope then the possibility of these issues becomes very high. 

Now soon Saturn is changing sign and will enter Pisces sign and the Sade Sati for Aries moon sign will start, whereas Aquarius moon sign will be in second phase whereas Pisces Moon sign natives will come under the peak phase of Sade Sati. Natives of these signs may undergo drastic issues in their marriage.

So if you have malefic placements related to marriage then be careful in this period.
