Manglik Dosha Or Manglik Yoga- What To Call It?

In Vedic astrology, Manglik Dosha is also known as Kuja Dosha.

It is a popular yoga but mostly negative things are associated with this Yoga where planet Mars the creator of Manglik Yoga is highlighted as an agent to destroy marriages.

Manglik dosha is said to create problems in married life and leads to bad health, frequent quarrels, and separation from the spouse.

In some cases, even the death of the spouse is also predicted on the basis of Manglik Yoga which is an absurd thing to say to anyone.

In short Manglik Dosha is said to affect marriage negatively.

Though most of the results seem to be negative here while analyzing Manglik Dosha or Manglik Yoga we should pay attention to the functional role of planet Mars also.

But we should not turn blind to these so-called negative yoga and a proper assessment is required.

How Manglik Dosha Forms

Mars, when placed in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 12th Manglik Dosha, is said to be formed.

Here, we should know why only these houses Mars creates Manglik Yoga.

If we see the significations of the above-mentioned houses, they represent self (1st), family (2nd), domestic environment (4th), spouse (7th) and in-laws (8th), and bed pleasures(12th).

All these aspects are very important for a smooth married life and since Mars is a natural malefic its placement in these houses creates problems in married life.

Manglik Dosha has some types also i.e. Anshik Manglik and Sat or Ath Mangli.

Anshik Mangli

Mars when placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, or 12th house creates a condition known as anshik mangli which in English can be termed mild manglik.

Sath & Asth Mangli

Mars when placed in the 7th or 8th house house creates sat and ath mangli conditions.

Manglik dosha or yoga what it is?

As you can see from the definition, Manglik Yoga is generated in 6 out of 12 houses in a horoscope which means almost 50% of people in the world have Manglik Yoga in their horoscope!!

But I don’t think so all of them are having bad times due to this.

There are high chance the some of them are enjoying benefits of it.

The reasons for such misconceptions are the fear that resides in people and the superstition to blame outer forces for problems in their life. Planets only create impulses that affect our actions. But in the end, we are the “Doer”.

But in the end, we are the “Doer”.

Natives having Manglik Yoga in their horoscope, usually have a lot of energy and are always ready to take initiative, especially with the 1st and 7th house position of planet Mars.

They are blessed with the Martian quality of courage and passion and achieve success easily. If Mars is not checked by Jupiter and Saturn then the same martian qualities can affect relationships. In astrology, planet Mars rules over the Aries and Scorpio zodiacs, where Aries is the first sign with a fire element in it, whereas Scorpio is the 8th sign with water element in it. Mars also creates a Rajyoga known as Ruchaka yoga.

Though Mars is malefic but rules over many important significations without which a person can’t achieve anything in life. Same way Manglik Yoga is not always bad, in my article “Gajakesari Yoga“, we have seen how even Gajakesari Yoga can prove bad for a person.

Same way Manglik Yoga should be analyzed and proper weight should be given to the role of Mars for a particular Ascendant, along with its natural Significations.

For example, Mars placed in the 7th house of Cancer Ascendant native will not harm marriage, instead, Mars here being a Yoga karaka and in exaltation will bless the native with a virtuous spouse and a good married life.

Now consider the Case of Capricorn Ascendent where Mars rules over the 4th and 11th house and is a malefic planet for them.

Mars in the 7th house of Capricorn Ascendant will be Debilitated and will result in serious problems in married life.

At the same time position of the 7th house lord in D-1 and D-9 should also be considered.

A strong and well-placed 7th lord can easily avert the bad effects of Mars in the 7th house.

Let’s See If Mars Is Forming Manglik Dosh & Manglik Yoga

Here, I will be checking the possibility of the Manglik dosha for all ascendants. For this role of Mars for all rising ascendant signs and its impact in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 12th houses will be taken into account.

Aries Ascendant

As explained in my article “Planets and Ascendants, Mars is a positive giver planet for Aries ascendant and gives positive results wherever it sits.

In First House: Its location in the 1st house will create Ruchaka Yoga and will bless the native with good health and wealth along with a sensible mind. Mars here will bring overall happiness including marital happiness.

In Second House: Here Mars will bless the native with wealth and landed property. Native will earn a good amount of money and will gain through both self-efforts and the help of others. Here Mars won’t affect marriage negatively and Manglik Yoga won’t work here unless Mars is afflicted severely.

In Fourth House: Here Mars will be Debilitated but due to its auspicious nature for Aries Ascendant native, it will not lead to complete disharmony in married life. There will be times when the native will find a lack of peace in the family but it will fade with time. Mars will aspect the 7th house from the 4th and will support the Significations of the 7th house partial results of Manglik dosha will be observed here.

In Seventh House: When Mars is placed in 7th house of Aries Ascendant native, it makes native very passionate. Both spouse and native share a good bond and spouse will have a good health and a courageous attitude, filled with passion. Manglik Yoga doesn’t work here.

In Eighth House: Mars here being in the own sign will give best results of the 8th house. Native will share a good bond with in-laws and will enjoy good sex life with the spouse here also Manglik dosha doesn’t apply.

In Twelfth House: When Mars occupies the 12th house, it can affect the married life of native on account of being far from home most of the time. Mars will also aspect 7th house from here and a lot will depend on the condition of 7th house lord. Manglik Yoga will be applicable here especially when Mars or 7th house is under affliction.

CONCLUSION: Manglik Yoga doesn’t work on Aries Ascendant natives but its position in the 7th  house can make the native to seek pleasure outside of marriage, which ultimately will result in problems in married life.

Taurus Ascendant

Mars for Taurus Ascendant rules over the 7th and 12th  house. Both are an important house in deciding the final outcome of marriage. Overall Mars is a malefic planet for Taurus Ascendant native is and Mars tends to harm the significations of the house where it sits or aspects, except houses owned by Mars.

First  House: Mars when placed in the first house of Tauras Ascendant, native will be short-tempered and injury prone. Here spouse will be healthy but native’s  physical safety will be a point of concern. Native will be very lusty and will be a spend drift. Mars will aspect 4th,7th and 8th house and being a malefic here, will create problems on significations of 4th and 8th house. Marriage is likely to suffer on account of frequent issues in family and unnecessary expenditures. This position of Mars also shows problems with in-laws. Though spouse will have a good health and will be loyal to native.

Second House: When placed in the second house Mars will tend to destroy signification of 2nd house and native will indulge in substance abuse. In Eight House: Mars in eight house of Tauras Ascendant native can create havoc in married life if native. Mars is the 7th lord also and its placement in 8th house is not desirable at all. Native will have a delay in marriage with this placement and spouse will have a bad temper and health. Native himself will suffer from various health issues. Manglik Yoga is applicable here and its bad effects will create disharmony in marriage.

In Twelveth House: Mars here usually makes a person very materialistic and sexual. Native will not pay attention to the spiritual needs of marriage and will result in the lack of companionship in marriage. Manglik Yoga will be effective here and will create problems in the marriage.

Conclusion: For Tauras Ascendent natives, placement of Mars in 2nd,8th and 12th will affect the marriage negatively.

Gemini Ascendant

Mars rules over the 6th and 11th house for Gemini Ascendant and is a most malefic planet for them. Mars will destroy the significations of planets or houses in planetary relation with it.

In First House: Mars, when placed here, will give criminal tendencies to native and a kind of behavior where due to a lot of anger relationship will be affected severely. Mars aspect on the 7th will bring a spouse with bad temperament and health issues.
Manglik Yoga is applicable here and marriage is likely to suffer on account of ego clashes and both native and spouse will indulge in frequent quarrels.

In Second House: Mars will be debilitated here and will act as a severe malefic. It will create havoc and will destroy person’s peace of mind. His children will go against him and will inflict injuries and other health issues. Marriage is likely to suffer greatly due to frequent health and family problems. Native will use harsh words for his spouse, Manglik yoga is applicable here.

In Fourth House: Mars in the fourth house of Gemini Ascendent will aspect the 7th house. It will result in the lack of domestic peace and spouse is likely to suffer from health issues. In Seventh House: Mars here will bring late marriage and a spouse with bad health and temperament. Mars aspect in Ascendent will make native I’ll mannered and native is likely to suffer on account of his anger.

In First House: Mars here will be placed in mooltrikone sign of Venus and will make native very lusty. If not checked by Saturn then native is likely to have extramarital affairs. In Second House: Mars here will give harsh speech though it’s an excellent placement for attaining wealth and property. Mars here will bring disharmony in family and children will be rebellious.
