  • Neecha Bhanga Rajyoga: In Depth Review
Neechabhanga Rajyoga

In astrology, there are signs where planets get debilitated which in Hindi means “neecha” and termed as powerless and when such debility gets annulled by some special planetary alignments then its called as Neechabhanga and when such “neecha bhanga” converts into raja yoga then it is called as “neechabhanga rajyoga”.

Clearly, there is a difference between neechabhanga and necchabhanga raj yoga.

In simple words, Neechabhanga Rajyoga is a state where a planet in a state of Neechabhanga achieves capabilities to bless a native with the rise in life.

Sages have given some combinations where a planet overcomes the weakness due to its debilitation. Though sign placement of planets should be checked in D3, D7, D9, D10, and D12 also, most importantly in navamsa (d-9).

Logic is simple here, a planet stays in debilitation for long periods like in the case of Saturn it is up to 2.5 years hence we just can’t declare any planet weak just cause of its D-1 placement.

For a better picture of the strength of a planet best is to look Shadbala calculations where the positional strength of planets are taken into account after assessment of Division charts. One more important thing which can’t be overlooked is ashtakvarga strength of a planet.

If a planet is getting more than 4 points in its own ashtakvarga then it is considered as strong and capable to deliver results.

Rules Which Converts Neechbhang Into Neechbhanga Rajyoga

As per Phaladeepika, following parameters should be checked to find if a debilitated planet is getting Neechabhanga or not.

1. Ruler of the sign occupied by the debilitated planet is in a Kendra position from the Moon or the Lagna.

Example suppose your Venus is debilitated which means it is in Virgo. Then the lord of Virgo which is Mercury should be in Kendra i.e houses 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or from Moon.

2. The ruler of the sign where the debilitated planet achieves exaltation is in a Kendra position from the Moon or Lagna.

Example If your Mars is debilitated which means Mars is in Cancer sign. Now Mars gets exalted in the sign of Capricorn whose lord is Saturn. Therefore to have cancellation of debilitation Saturn should be Kendra house i.e 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or from Moon.

3. If the ruler of the sign occupied by the debilitated planet aspects the planet.

Example If Saturn is debilitated which means it is in Aries then to achieve cancel of debilitation Mars needs to aspect Saturn.

4. The planet which will be exalted in the sign where a planet is getting debilitated is present in a Kendra from the Moon or the Lagna.

Example If Jupiter is debilitated which means it is a sign of Capricorn. Now Mars achieves exaltation in a sign of Capricorn and therefore Mars should be present in Kendra houses 1,4,7,10 from ascendant or from Moon to give cancel of debilitation to Jupiter.

5. If the debilitated planet is exalted in the Navamsha.

This is a common but a major rule since navamsa is a micro chart and holds the essence of D-1, therefore, planets placement needs to check here properly.

6. When a debilitated and exalted planets are in the same sign.

Example, Venus is in Virgo with Mercury. Here Venus is debilitated whereas Mercury is exalted giving Neechabhanga to Venus.

•There are many renowned personalities who have debilitated planets but still, they achieved a lot in their life.

•As per traditional texts, 2 or more planets in the sign of their debilitation makes one sick, poor and immoral.

But if you see horoscope likes of the famous painter Pablo Picasso.

You will find 6 planets in debilitation this makes us wonder what really is happening here. Obviously, this needs more introspection and not to forget there are other factors also which works simultaneously apart from debilitation and exaltation of planets.

Usually out of 100 Neechabhanga only 2 or 3 converted to Neechabhanga Raj Yoga. Neechabhanga Raj Yoga is an asset for other Traditional Raj Yoga.

In Order to have full results of  Neechabhanga Raj Yoga, you need Rajyoga like Kendra – Tine or other powerful Special Rajyoga.

Neechabhanga Raj Yoga will never work in isolation. It is yoga which helps you to take advantage of crisis just like Vipreet Rajyoga but to take advantage of such situations you need to possess some abilities better than others which come from Rajyoga like a relationship between Kendra and Trines house lords or other yogas like Panchmahapurush, Vishnu Yoga, etc.

There is a more important point which is hidden in ashtakvarga. As per ashtakvarga,  a planet even if debilitated have more than 4 benefic bindus in its own ashtakvarga then it tends to give good results.

In fact, ashtakvarga score of all planets should be checked before giving results on planets. Ashtakvarga bindus is a measurement of benefic results of planets and strength of planets can also be judged from it.

Neechabhanga Rajyoga is clearly seen in the horoscope of Pablo Picasso.

It’s a unique horoscope and shows how intriguing astrology can be. In Picasso’s horoscope Sun, Moon, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu are debilitated.

Usually, you should not pay much attention to the debilitation of slow-moving planets like Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, and Jupiter. Since they stay in debilitation for long periods and millions of people born around those years will have debilitated slow moving planets.

Here navamsha placement should be given more importance since navamsha changes in 9 minutes the factor of rarity comes into play. Always remember occasional placements have importance say then the regular ones.

So in Picasso’s horoscope Venus the planet of art is debilitated in 3rd house and the sign where Venus gets exaltation is Pisces whose lord Jupiter is in the quadrant from Moon. This makes Venus cancel its debility.

Now how it’s converted to Neechabhanga Rajyoga?

1. Venus is in 3rd house which has high ashtakvarga score i.e 33.

2. In its own ashtakvarga, Venus hhas6 out of 8 benefic bindus. Such Venus is highly praised in traditional texts.

3. Venus is aspected by Jupiter.

All these three points are making Venus bless him with good results.

Here though Venus is debilitated but Jupiter is giving neechabhanga and being in the house of hands, paintings which are strong in ashtakvarga is pushing Venus to bless him with a great sense of arts.

If you will read the above lines you will get more sense of Neechabhanga and Neechabhanga Raj Yoga. His artistic talent is also evident from the placement of  3rd house lord is in 5th house which is a house of imagination.

Imagine a horoscope here with same debilitated Venus in 3rd but a weak third house & a weak Venus as per ashtakvarga. Such Venus will not be able to bless the native with art skill at least not at great level.

There are other Neechabhanga Rajyoga in Picasso’s horoscope.

Saturn is debilitated in 10th house and Sun is in the 4th house is giving it Neechabhanga. Now this Saturn here again has extraordinary 6 points in its own ashtakvarga. It’s actually rare where you will see 6 points in Saturn ashtakvarga  and Saturn is in 10th house and gave him worldwide recognition.

So you have seen how neechbhanga in the horoscope of Pablo Piccaso got converted into neechabhanga rajyoga.

Clearly, without other favorable combinations, neechabhanga rajyoga will not be felt by the native.

Also, Neechbhnga Rajyoga when present in full force gives results throughout life irrespective. In common practice, it has been found that neechbhanga rajyoga between Venus and Mercury is most effective and the simple reason here is the involvement of two benefic planets.

Before ending this article I would like to mention that you can apply these rules to detect neechabhanga rajyoga in navamsha also.
